Q&A with Allison

Hi! I thought it would be fun to do a quick Q&A! Yesterday I posted on my Instastory to send me any questions you would like for me to answer. And it can be ANYTHING! So here are some of your questions. If this brings up any other questions or thoughts, leave them in the comments and I will be happy to answer them! <3

Q1: Do you have any good conversation starters when you host, especially for people you aren’t close with?

I start with the basics! Usually the questions below will lead into something else or it will leave us talking about that question for a while!

What do you do? Where are you from?/Where did you grow up? Where does your family live? How did you all meet? (if married) Do you go to church/Where do you go to church? Are you close with your family? Where did you go to school? If you aren’t content with what you do now, what do you want to do?

And then once I’ve run out of the basic get-to-know-you questions, I start asking about things they enjoy: TV shows, restaurants, travels, etc.

Q2: What are some of your favorite Bible studies?

I am very picky about bible studies.

I have been doing an Exodus study by Jen Wilkin and I love it! She has a lot that you can download for free and listen to her podcasts. You can find them here.

I also like anything by Tim Keller. You can find some of his here.

Q3: Any good motherhood bible studies?

I have been reading the Ministry of Motherhood and she includes study discussions to go along with it. I have enjoyed reading it on my own, but it would also be fun to do it with a group of women.

Q4: How do you keep your house so organized?

My husband helps me so much with this! He loves organization too. I keep things tidy… so throughout the day I will put things back where they belong, straighten up the living room, keep the kitchen clean, put clothes away, etc. I do it all day! Mornings I will straighten up rooms, afternoons I will straighten up kitchen. I focus on one thing at a time and just keep going to the next and then the next. Jim helps organize the little detailed things like shelves in closets :).

Q5: How is it to have your husband work at home while you are there?

It is so nice to have him at home! We see each other all the time, so I feel more freedom to go out with my girls on nights or weekends. But we also have to be intentional because even if it feels like we see each other all the time, it’s not intentional time together. So we still make sure we find time to be together after his work hours. It’s fun because we get to eat breakfast and lunch together. He can see Lily during the day and occasionally help out with her if he’s not busy.

It can be difficult too since I don’t have the house to myself. If he’s on the phone and Lily is crying, I have to run her to our bedroom because his office is next to our living space. Or if I want to have friends over, it’s tricky because he needs the house to be quiet while he works. I also can’t blast music which sometimes I like to do :). So it’s not all peachy keen and we still have to compromise our desires at times.

Q6: How did you and your husband agree on a baby name?

Most all of the names I liked he didn’t like! ha! We constantly were tossing around names. We still haven’t landed on a boy name that we both love, so thankfully we had a girl!! He is the one who tossed out Lily and I also loved it, so we just settled there. The middle name took some more time to agree on, but eventually I talked him into it ;).

Q7: What are your must-do’s during pregnancy?

Rest. Rest. Rest. I was working full-time during pregnancy and had a 30 minute commute, so on the evenings and weekends, I rested as much as I could. Eat as well as you can, but don’t feel guilty if greens make you want to vomit like they did for me. Walk a lot. This is good for you physically and mentally! Don’t put pressure on yourself.. you’re growing a human! And you need to take it easy and be as relaxed as much as you possibly can. Enjoy your “me time” and dates with your husband. And pray a lot :).

Q8: What are your favorite snacks for pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Here I share my favorite snack! These are great for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Add some brewers yeast for breastfeeding!

I also ate a lot of pretzels dipped in peanut butter. Protein bars. Oatmeal. Lactation cookies (I substituted almond flour and coconut sugar). Booby bites.

That’s all for now! Send me any other questions you may have! Or answers you have to any of these questions! I would love to hear from you!
