My Favorite Dry Shampoo

I am weird about washing my hair. My friends and family know this. I don’t like to wash my hair every day. I like to go every other day because my hair is fine and it helps my hair with volume if I do so. I PREFER to go every two days to wash my hair, but if I do that, I definitely need to work on it so it doesn’t look like it’s been two days.

Da da da DAAAAA DRY SHAMPOO TO THE RESCUE!

I have tried store bought dry shampoo, and it may work for 5-30 minutes, but then my hair goes flat and greasy. So it’s basically doing the opposite of what I’m going for.

I discovered online a few years ago the best dry shampoo that gives me at least another day of unwashed hair. Jim likes my hair even more than the first day I showered because it has texture and more volume.

DIY DRY SHAMPOO

Ingredients:

Cornstarch

Baking Soda

Cocoa powder

hair
Just mix all of these with the measurements 1:1:1

Super easy!

The cocoa powder helps the shampoo not be so white, especially if you have dark hair, so you can change the amount of cocoa based on your hair color.

I dump in 1-2 Tablespoons of each in an 8 ounce mason jar, close the lid, and shake it up.

Then I use my fingers to stroke it in the roots of my hair. Some use a powder makeup brush, but I find my fingers work well (just make sure they are clean!!).

Comb or brush it through and you’re good to go!

Sometimes I put it on my hair the night before if I don’t want to wash my hair in the morning. Also because my hair is so thin, I will use it before I curl my hair to help the curl texture to stay.

Let me know how it works for you!
